Simon Susen examines the impact of the 'postmodern turn' on the contemporary social sciences. On the basis of an innovative five-dimensional approach, this study provides a systematic, comprehensive, and critical account of the legacy of the 'postmodern turn', notably in terms of its continuing relevance in the twenty-first century.
Provides a retrospective on the impact of 'the postmodern turn' in the social sciences Argues that the rise and popularity of postmodernism in the 1990s is inextricably linked to the events surrounding the fall of the Berlin Wall and the demise of the Soviet Union Provides a historical survey of the emergence and significance of the postmodernity debate Examines the paradox of why although postmodern thought has had a profound impact of social sciences, most social scientists seek to distance themselves from postmodern approaches
