Adrian von Buttlar ist Professor für Kunstgeschichte an der TU Berlin. Seine Forschungsschwerpunkte sind: Gartenkunst, Architekturgeschichte sowie Denkmalpflege und Denkmalpolitik. Von 1996 bis 2009 war er Vorsitzender des Landesdenkmalrates Berlin.Janos Stekovics, geboren 1959 in West-Ungarn, Studium der Chemie in Veszprem, dann bis 1983 Betriebswirtschaft in Merseburg/DDR. 1984 in Ungarn Wirtschaftsredakteur, ab 1985 Fotoreporter der ungarischen Nachrichtenagentur MTI. Lebt seit 1989 in Passau sowie München; 1992 Gründung eines eigenen Verlages.
In this book, internationally renowned garden and architecture theorists, art historians, cultural mediators, and commentators look at the phenomenon of Wörlitz. Their examinations begin with the 18th century developments of which Fürst Franz's Garden Kingdom was a prominent European example: this small pattern state implemented the new Enlighten ment concepts of architecture and landscape design in a model and exemplary way. By analysing the historical background, the authors open up new perspectives on a world heritage site. The photographs in this volume, they aim with a keen gaze to capture everything from the small details to the grand unified composition.
