Dr. S. Suriyanarayanan is Deputy Director of Research, at Vinayaka Mission's Research Foundation Deemed University, India. He completed his Masters and Master of Philosophy in Zoology at Jamal Mohamed College, Tiruchirappalli. He holds a doctorate degree in Environmental Sciences from Bharathiar University, Tamil Nadu. He served as Post-doctoral Fellow at the University of Turin, Italy, and as Project Coordinator, Faculty, and Head (I/c) at the Department of Water and Health, JSS Academy of Higher Education and Research (JSS AHER) Deemed University, Mysore, India. He has also served as Science Officer for the Scientific Committee on Problems of the Environment (SCOPE) at the Research Center for Eco-Environmental Sciences (RCEES), Beijing, from April 2015 to March 2017. He is also appointed as Nodal Officer for SCOPE India activities under JSSAHER, India. He is Visiting Professor at Khon Kaen University, Thailand. He has research experiences in environmental monitoring, radiation ecology, and environmental microbiology.

Dr. Shivaraju HP is Associate Professor and Head of the Department of Environmental Sciences, JSS Academy of Higher Education and Research, Mysuru, India. His expertise is in environmental management and sustainable water resource management especially advanced water and wastewater treatment techniques. He is well experienced in the comprehensive study on evidence of accumulation of contaminants of emerging concern (CECs), including persistent organic pollutants (POPs), pharmaceutical and personal care products (PPCPs), pathogens, and trace metals in the environment and associated health risks.

Dr. David Jenkins is Associate Professor of Nanomaterials and Devices at the University of Plymouth and is Head of the Nanomaterials and Devices Laboratory. His research is diverse, but the focus of his research has been in the area of sensor development for the characterization and optimization of materials and devices/sensors for the detectionof contaminants in drinking water and early onset disease detection.


This book provides information on sustainable water resource management strategies that present innovative ways to conserve both quality and quantity of water in developing countries. The book comprises of 24 chapters contributed by authors from 14 countries, namely, Cameroon, China, Cyprus, India, Indonesia, Italy, Namibia, the Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, South Africa, the United Kingdom, the United States of America and Zimbabwe.
