It is definite that he was England’s best-known preacher for the second half of the 19th century.He took Christ as his Lord and Saviour in 1850 and just four years later was called to be the pastor of London’s famed New Park Street Church. It was under his pastoral care that this Church outgrew its building and had to move to new premises.
