Food Security is vital for sustenance of every country. Role of livestock in food security especially in maintaining livelihood, nutrition and food security of small, marginal and landless farmers is critical.Unlike agriculture livestock can be reared by landless farmers and can provide income throughout the year. Women farmers throughout the world are more dependent on livestock for their livelihood. But due to various issues like lack of technical know how,lack of access, lack of resource availability and low interventions in behavior alteration livestock rearing is facing challenges in developing nations of the world. The book provide a guideline for the mid level extension functionaries in the developing nation on production and resource challenges of small scale farmers and how to overcome these challenges and thereby increase the livestock production and productivity.
