Dr. Genn Sakesh is an Assistant Professor at the Department of Education, Rayalaseema University, Kurnool, Andhra Pradesh, India. He was awarded Doctor of Philosophy for his research on "Development of an Educational Programme for Nurturing Affective Characteristics among Secondary School Students" by the Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda.
The book is about development of affective characteristics i.e., development of Attitude, Interest, Self-efficacy and Values through various activities among secondary school children. This manual will help the teachers to provide support to the children. The book consists of three sections, viz., 1 - Introductory Manual, 2 - Activity Manual and 3 - Assessment of the Affective Characteristics. The first section, Introductory manual, deals with concepts of development of Attitude, Interest, Self-efficacy and Values, its research perspectives and highlighted importance of the each concept to make rich understanding of these characteristics. The second section deals with use of the affective characteristics through various strategies and activities with refers to teachers as well as students. The third section deals with how these affective characteristics can be assessed through various tools and techniques. Main objectives of the programme manual are: Students able to perform/act: Positive thinking, express right attitude, show interest in studies, maintain good relationship with teachers and peer/classmates, socially well-being personality and active involvement in academics.
