Klaus Jan Philipp studierte Kunstgeschichte, Archäologie und Geschichte in Marburg und Berlin. Er promovierte über mittelalterliche Architektur in Südwestdeutschland. 1988-90 war er freier Mitarbeiter am Deutschen Architekturmuseum in Frankfurt am Main und organisierte dort die Ausstellung Revolutionsarchitektur. Ein Aspekt der europäischen Architektur um 1800. Seit 1989 ist Philipp am Institut für Architekturgeschichte der Universität Stuttgart tätig, zunächst als wissenschaftlicher Assistent und seit 1996 als Dozent. Seine Forschungen zur klassizistischen Architektur legte er 1997 in seiner Habilitationsschrift Um 1800: Architekturtheorie und Architekturkritik in Deutschland zwischen 1790 und 1810 vor.
Natascha Meuser Jahrgang. 1967, Dipl.-Ing. Architektin BDA. Studium der Innenarchitektur in Rosenheim und Master of Architecture am Illinois Institute of Technology in Chicago. 1996 Gründung des Büros Meuser Architekten BDA. Seit 2000 Wissenschaftliche Mitarbeiterin an der Technischen Universität Berlin. Autorin der wöchentlichen Tagesspiegel-Kolumne "Berliner Zimmer".

Sergej Tchoban, geboren 1962, Kunst- und Architektur-Studium. Seit 1990 erhielt er mehrfache Awards for Excellence. Ausstellungsbeiträge mit Architekturzeichnungen waren in Europa, den USA und Japan zu sehen. Seit 2002 ist Tchoban Kurator für den Aedes East Extension Pavillon in Berlin.

The drawing architect - for centuries, this term was just as tautological as the "baking baker" or the "gardening gardener". Nevertheless, in this compendium one has to begin with reference to the fact that the acquisition of drawing skills is by no means a minor field of study for architects. Design methodology, also referred to as methodology of space and the representation of the human body, plays an important role - once more - in the present- day field of architectural activity. This book explores options for illustration, as well as contemporary practice with architectural presentation. It deals with the following topics: The history and theory of architectural drawing, covering a wide spectrum of issues in terms of art and architectural history. Examples are provided by two design collections. Ten architects present their architectural concepts based on a selection of drawing and presentation techniques. Ten exercises for freehand drawing, demonstrating that spatial vision and the ability to think in three-dimensional terms can be learnt by anyone. Demonstrative examples and practical exercises which illustrate technical drawing and the fundamental principles of perspective.
