Axel Sowa (Univ. Prof. Dipl.-Ing.) leitet seit Oktober 2007 das Lehr- und Forschungsgebiet Architekturtheorie an der RWTH Aachen. Vor seiner Berufung war er knapp sieben Jahre Chefredakteur von "L'Architecture d'Aujourd'hui". Seine Forschungsschwerpunkte sind die Theorie der Imitation und die frühe Entwicklung von industriell gefertigten Baukomponenten.
Susanne Schindler (Dipl.-Ing.) ist wissenschaftliche Mitarbeiterin am Lehr- und Forschungsgebiet Architekturtheorie an der RWTH Aachen. Zuvor war sie Redakteurin der Zeitschrift "ARCH+" und praktizierende Architektin in Boston, USA. Ihr Forschungsschwerpunkt liegt in der Untersuchung zeitgenössischer urbaner Siedlungsstrukturen.

Wie wird das Wissen der Architektur generiert, gesammelt, aufbereitet und tradiert? Welche Personen, Institutionen und Verbände sind daran beteiligt? Was sind die entscheidenden Methoden und Wissensformen? Diese Fragen stehen im Zentrum der Schriftenreihe Candide. Journal for Architectural Knowledge, die seit 2009 halbjährlich mit dem Ziel erscheint, eine spezifisch architektonische Wissenskultur zu befördern. Um der Vielfalt möglicher Forschungsansätze Rechnung zu tragen, ist jede Ausgabe in fünf Rubriken gegliedert: Während »Analyse« die gebaute Umwelt in ihre Bestandteile zerlegt, zielt »Essay« auf die persönliche Auseinandersetzung damit. »Projekt« ist ein Forum für praktizierende Architekten und »Begegnung« lässt vergessene oder unbekannte Akteure zu Wort kommen.  »Fiktion« appelliert nicht zuletzt an die Kraft des Imaginären, das oft mehr Wissen zu transportieren vermag als jede empirische Beweisführung.
