Prof. Dr. Thomas Kieselbach is the director of the Institute for Psychology of Work, Unemployment, and Health (IPG) at the University of Bremen (Germany) and Professor for work and health psychology at the University of Bremen. He is the former chairperson of the SC Unemployment, Job Insecurity and Health of the International Commission on Occupational Health.Dr. Simo Mannila is Senior Expert with the International Affairs of the National Institute for Health and Welfare (THL), Helsinki, Finland, Adjunct Professor of the University of Helsinki and Adjunct Professor at the University of Turku, former secretary of the SC Unemployment, Job Insecurity and Health of the International Commission on Occupational Health.
This book addresses the links between unemployment, precariousnesswork and health risks from various scientific frames of reference as wellas those of policy-makers. The authors range from major classics in thefield to newcomers from several countries presenting their researchresults. The authors include also representatives of several internationalorganizations. The anthology is of a multidisciplinary character and itsarticles evaluate the contributions of various projects, programmes andstandard public services for persons at risk of labour market exclusion.It updates the research agenda, which is most topical during the financialcrisis and economic restructuring of today.
Research and Policy Issues
This book is largely based on the contribution to the 3rd International Conference of the Scientific Committee Unemployment & Health of International Commission on Occupational Health (ICOH) in Bremen, 2006. Its papers address the links between unemployment, precariousness in the labour market and health risks from various scientific frames of reference as well as those of policy makers. The 42 articles by authors from 13 countries and several international organizations include major classics in the field as well as new research that has until now been internationally largely unknown.
