HamNoSys based Sign Language Generation System

Khushdeep Kaur Gill has earned her B.Tech in CS and M.E. in Software Engineering from Thapar University,Patiala,India. She is working as a Software Engineer in a well reputed IT company. Khushdeep is also working in the research field of Sign Language Automation for the growth of Education and Communication among Hearing Impaired People.

"Our Eyes are Our Ears, Our Hands are our Mouth." Sign Language is the most natural way of expression of thoughts and feelings for the deaf community. Today we live in the technological era, where we can communicate with each other instantly. But, there is also a need to work in the field of 'Sign Language Automation', to facilitate better communication among deaf communities. The traditional approaches of representing the signs in the form of videos or text are expensive, time consuming and are not easy to use. In this book, a new approach of transcription of signs in the HamNoSys notation is introduced. Though the Sign Language varies from country to country, but the HamNoSys notation is universal and can be used internationally for automating sign language of any country. This book provides us with various methodologies, for generating and automating the signs, that can be used for the development of automated systems to enhance the educational growth and for the betterment of hearing impaired people. "Hearing people have the ability to remove the barriers that prevent deaf people from achieving their dreams." So, let us come forward to work for this noble cause !
