Understanding properties of many naonstructured materials can be understood in terms of structural hierarchies. This concept has been introduced by structural biology and successfully adapted to synthetic polymers and ceramic aggregates. Chapters will address how ordering occurs from the atomic-scale up to the microstructure and how control of these factors leads to the final materials' properties.
