Mechanical Properties and Others.The book therefore constitutes a veritable mini-handbook on the properties and behavior of concrete.A total of 64 peer-reviewed papers from an April 2008 conference describe the preparation and properties of high-strength/high-performance concrete, covering a wide range of topics, including durability, raw materials, workability, chemical admixture, new applications of concrete, property characterization, and the behavior of concrete structures. Areas of investigation include a vacuum-assisted pumping technique for steel tube-confined concrete, adaptability of slag-based geopolymer with superplasticizer, synthesis and properties of new poly-acrylic superplasticizer, performance of a slow-release carboxylic polymer and its application, and characteristics of zeolite plasticizer.
