Beschreibung:

Professor Osiris Canciglieri Junior obtained his Undergraduate degree in Industrial Engineering at Industrial Engineering School of São José dos Campos-EEI (1991), graduated in master degree in Mechanical Engineering at State University of Campinas-UNICAMP (1994), Ph.D. in the Manufacturing Automation at University of Loughborough (UK, 1999) and Invited Professor also at University of Loughborough (2008). Osiris is currently a Full Professor at Pontifical Catholic University of Paraná (PUCPR) in the Polytechnic School. He lectures in the undergraduate Programs Control and Automation Engineering (Mechatronics) and Production Engineering and also lectures in the Industrial Engineering and Systems Graduate Program (PPGEPS/PUCPR). He lectures Product Development Methodologies, Design and Manufacturing Aided Computer (CAD/CAM) with a focus on support the design of prosthesis including dental field, Design for Manufacturing and Assembly (DFM/DFA), Design for Sustainability, Concurrent Engineering, Development of Sustainable Products focused on the production, generation and use of renewable energy. He has strong experience in product design, information modelling to support product design and manufacturing. His research field is based on information models to support design and manufacturing activities to develop products.

Dr. Miroslav Trajanovic, Professor at Mechanical Engineering Faculty, University of Nis, Nis, Serbia, has had got 35 years of experience in application of IT in mechanical engineering, biomedical engineering and education. He is expert for computer programming, CAD, finite element method and expert systems. Prof. Trajanovic is the author of more than 170 scientific and professional papers (published till 2013). He has also taken part in 15 scientific and professional team projects supported by Serbian government and industry. He was also a project leader or WP leader for 10 projects mainly in IT, mechanical engineering and biomedical engineering, as well as two FP6 and six FP7 projects.

This book covers the most important topics in the field of personalized orthopedics. It starts with the 3D geometry of the bones, focusing on the problem of reverse engineering of the bones. It also shows the application of a 3D geometric model of bone for the design of personalized implants and prostheses. This book covers the application of additive technologies in personalized orthopedics as well as prediction, simulation and optimization in personalized orthopedics. Its content provides the necessary knowledge for the transition from classical to personalized orthopedics. The authors present an original method for reverse bone engineering-the Method of Anatomical Features (MAF). This method is unique as it enables the reconstruction of the original geometry and topology of the bone, even when only data on its part are available. The application of this method is shown on the examples of human long bones, mandible and hip bone reconstruction.

This book contains a review of several real cases of personalized implants. It gives several examples of prostheses for the design of which a 3D model of bones was used, as well as other patient data on the basis of which personalized prostheses were designed.

Provides detailed presentation of methods for personalized approach in the treatment of orthopedic patients
