Beschreibung:

Who would you be if you could define yourself outside of what the world tells you that you are? In Woman. Queer. Black, Kameisha Jerae Hodge uses poetry to tell us exactly who she is.

In this poetic excavation, we explore the universe of a woman who was raised East of the River in Washington, D.C.-an area overflowing with beautiful souls trapped inside of the ugliness of capitalism, anti-Blackness, and poverty. With poetry topics that range from nostalgically lighting matches as a reminder of her paternal grandmother to the solemn, deep wounds of heartbreak and self-discovery, Kameisha uses the theme of the universe and a higher level of understanding to drive the reader to a space where single-dimensionality is nonexistent.

Woman. Queer. Black. also features essays that Hodge wrote that supplements her thoughts on the various chapters in her fourth publication. This poetry book is a great gift for readers who enjoy the comparative works of Nikki Giovanni, Sapphire, Ntozake Shange, and Maya Angelou.

Kameisha Jerae Hodge believes that every Black woman has a story to tell and that it should be done as professionally, intentionally, and unapologetically as possible.

As an independent publisher, and the CEO and Founder of Sovereign Noir Publications, Kameisha has published over 25 books for Black authors across the United States. She has also been a TEDx speaker and launched the Annual Black Women Writers Virtual Summit. Kameisha holds an MA in English and has a Certificate in Book Publishing.
