The pandemic affected each of us. No travels, no visits to or with family and friends-most people moaned and groaned. Not this firecracker entering her eighth decade. She decided to do something different. Eva Bernier, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, has painted and sold her art for over fifty years.
Bernier saw the required isolation as an opportunity. In Bushy Tail Adventures, Eva Bernier tells the story of two squirrel brothers making their first forays away from the nest and their mother. The two brother squirrels are as different in temperament as they can be. Curious takes cautious steps and explores his new world with a studious approach. Mischievous, on the other hand, jumps, hops, and plops into every new thing without considering the consequences.
Bernier doesn't end the book telling us the lessons we should learn. She leaves that to the reader. Bushy Tail Adventures opens the door for a greater discussion of our approach to problems, to daily tasks, and to life.
This book could be used by teachers to explore different approaches to activities and how our behavior affects the results of our actions.
However, the most important way to use this book is for pure enjoyment. The illustrations are delightful and the squirrels' actions make us laugh. What more can you want from a children's book?
