Beschreibung:

Driftwood from Popham Sands is a labor of love. Florence Reed Oliver recorded her observations and her family's memories with loving care and preserved original documents, pictures and heirlooms. After her death, Florence's daughters Margaret and Edith worked to make their mother's compiled notes and memorabilia into a book. After Margaret's passing, Edith completed the work begun decades ago. History buffs surely will enjoy the product of these three women's work. Here in your hand is a quilt of recollections illuminated by fine old photographs.Florence Reed Oliver grew up in Day's Ferry, Woolwich, Maine, attended grade school in Day's Ferry, graduated from Morse High School in nearby Bath in1928 and graduated from Gorham Normal School. She taught school in Phippsburg. Florence was active in the Daughters of the American Revolution, Phippsburg Historical Society, Unity Circle, Popham Circle and Small Point Church. She was an organist at the Popham Chapel. Florence was a frequent contributor to the Bath Independent newspaper and a field researcher and contributor to the historical book written by the Phippsburg Historical Society, Phippsburg Fair to the Wind, published in 1964. Florence died in 1987.
