Chokora! A Kenyan Scavenger

PGN Mbugwa was born in Thika Town, 40 km from Nairobi. He attended Starehe Boy's Centre and Saint Mary's School in Nairobi. On completing high school, he joined the Kenya Air Force (KAF) and graduated as a 2nd Lieutenant in 1990. He later retired from the Armed forces and moved to South Africa. It is during his stay down south that he discovered a passion for the written word and has ever since been pursuing writing as a vocation. Chokora! A Kenyan Scavenger is his first novel, which won the 2nd runners up prize in the 2009 National Book Development Council of Kenya Literary award. Peter is married with a daughter and two sons.

John Patrick and Martin Joseph are two teens born in the dusty, poor neighbourhood of Huruma in Nairobi. Raised by single unemployed mothers, they turn to scavenging for valuables in the city's middle-class neighbourhoods to survive the harsh life of Huruma.
