Beschreibung:

Elain Harwood is one of the UK's foremost architectural historians. Working as a Senior Investigator with Historic England, her research has contributed to the listing of many 20th century buildings. She is the author of several books for Batsford including Art Deco Britain, Mid-Century Britain and England's Post-war Listed Buildings, and won the Alice Davis Hitchcock Medallion for her book Space Hope and Brutalism: English Architecture 1945¿1975. She also gives lectures and leads architectural tours ¿ including cycling ones ¿ for the 20th Century Society. She lives in London.
The Brutalist talks given by C20 are by far the most popular along with Art Deco. The use of concrete, a defining feature of Brutalist buidlings, has become almost fetishized. Various books already out on the subject, but as with Art Deco, there isn't actually an accessible overview of the best British Brutalist buildings. With C20 branding and Elain H's writing, this would actually be a very good addition.
