Arnon Bentovim is a Director of Child and Family Training, and a Visiting Professor at Royal Holloway, University of London. He was formerly a Consultant Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist to the Great Ormond Street Children's Hospital and the Tavistock Clinic. He was also Honorary Senior Lecturer at the Institute of Child Health, University College London. He is co-editor of Safeguarding Children Living with Trauma and Family Violence, published by Jessica Kingsley Publishers. Jenny Gray OBE is a social work consultant and President of the International Society for the Prevention of Child Abuse and Neglect. From 1995-2012 she was professional adviser to the British government on safeguarding children, firstly in the Department of Health and then in the Department for Education. In this capacity she led policy development on the assessment of children in need, reviews of serious cases and child deaths and the commissioning of safeguarding children research.
Examining whether it's possible to eradicate child maltreatment, this book draws on on global research and evidence-based practice across health, social welfare and education. It describes a range of current approaches to prevention and early intervention and presents the case for a public health approach to overcoming child maltreatment.
