He has written a well-received study of Dolly Parton ('Smart Blonde: Dolly Parton') as well as the critically acclaimed 'Johnny Cash: The Life of an American Icon', both released by Omnibus.

Johnny Cash is the only artist to have been elected to the Country Music and Rock and Roll Songwriters Hall of Fame. By 1969 he had sold more records than The Beatles.
