Beschreibung:

Never Alone is the story about a young boy who escapes from Soviet occupied East Germany in 1950. At age 16, undernourished and exhaustedfrom political indoctrination, he made a bold attempt to escape across the heavily fortified border to West Germany. He knew that he could not make it on his own-he knew that he could always rely on help coming from above, as he had throughout his young life. He was caught in his first escape attempt, but he continued to look for that help he knew would come-he made it to freedom in his second escape attempt on the same day.The picture on the cover was taken in 1944 after a terrible air bombardment of the city of Hannover, Germany, that destroyed 80% of the city. All the buildings surrounding this small Lutheran church were completely leveled. The church had only minor damage and was renovated after the war. In 1960, the author went back to Germany and married his wife Ruth in this church.i
