Beschreibung:
Maxine Childress Brown is an interpreter for the deaf, certified by the Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf, and a former assistant professor at the Rochester Institute of Technology, New York, and SUNY Geneseo.
The author pays tribute to the tenacity and dignity with which her mother and father - both of whom were deaf and African American - lived and raised three hearing daughters in Washington, DC during the deeply segregated decades of the mid-twentieth century.
