Ever since joining a writers group at the Saratoga Retirement Community in 2006 he has enjoyed writing these short pieces of memoir and commentary entitled VIN YETs. He and his wife, Marian, moved from Columbus, Ohio to the Saratoga Retirement Community in Saratoga, California in 2005. McCollough was 85 years old in 2014.
