Dr Kim Sears is an Assistant Professor in the School of Nursing at Queens University. She is the Associate Director of the Master of Science in Healthcare Quality program MSc(HQ) and the Deputy Director/Healthcare Quality in the Queen's Joanna Briggs Collaboration. Her research program is centered on patient safety and quality of care. She completed a Doctor of Philosophy in Nursing from the University of Toronto in 2009. Building upon her doctoral thesis which explored the relationship of the nursing work environment on the safe administration of medications for hospitalized children across Canada. Dr Sears is interested in promoting safe medication delivery for children and adults in both the community and hospital settings. To focus on this goal, Kim was awarded a CIHR/CHSRF Postdoctoral Fellowship which she accomplished at Dalhousie University. Dr Denise Stockley is the Associate Director for the Centre for Teaching and Learning, Researcher in Residence in the Office of Health Science Education, and also Professor of Education at Queen's University. She has extensive experience in promoting both classroom-based and online learning. Since 1993, she has taught, consulted, and provided educational development at the college, university and corporate levels. Denise completed her Doctorate in the Psychology of Education at Simon Fraser University. Her primary interests are professional development, graduate supervision, and educational technology. Denise is also the Principal Investigator of several research grants, including those from the Tri-Council (SSHRC, NSERC, and CIHR). Briana Broderick graduated with a SSHRC funded Master¿s degree in Canadian Cultural History from Queen¿s University in 2010. In 2009, she graduated with an honours bachelor of arts and an education degree from Lakehead University. Influencing the Quality, Risk and Safety Movement in Healthcare explores the inner workings of some of the most influential minds in healthcare quality, risk and safety. The book was created in cooperation with the Master of Science in Healthcare Quality graduate program at Queen¿s University, Canada.
