William McDonough, geboren 1951, US-amerikanischer Architekt, Designer und Autor. Er ist u. a. als Consulting Professor für Civil and Environmental Engineering an der Stanford University tätig und gehört dem Leadership Council der Yale University an. Preisträger mehrerer Presidential Awards. Er gründete das Architekturbüro William McDonough + Partners und ist Leiter der Entwicklungsfirma McDonough Braungart Design Chemistry. 1999 zählte das Time Magazine ihn zum 'Hero for the Planet', 2007 zusammen mit Michael Braungart zu den 'Heroes of the Environment'.Prof. Dr. Michael Braungart, geboren 1958, gründete 1987 die EPEA Internationale Umweltforschung GmbH in Hamburg und ist Mitbegründer (mit William McDonough) von McDonough Braungart Design Chemistry (MBDC) in Charlottesville, Virginia, USA. Beide Unternehmen entwickeln und vermarkten intelligentes, ästhetisches und öko-effektives Design. Seit 1994 lehrt Braungart als Professor für Verfahrenstechnik an der Universität Lüneburg, dort leitet er ein interdisziplinäres Masterprogramm für Stoffstrom-Management und ist seit 2002 Gastprofessor an der Darden School of Business.
