Shuo Tang received her BS and MS in electronics from Peking University, China, in 1992 and 1997, respectively. She received her PhD in electrical engineering from the University of California, Los Angeles, in 2003. From 2003 to 2006, she was a postdoctoral researcher at the Beckman Laser Institute at the University of California, Irvine. She began as an assistant professor at the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of British Columbia in 2007, where she has been an associate professor since 2013. Prof. Tang's research interests are in the broad areas of biomedical optical imaging systems and devices, including multiphoton microscopy, optical coherence tomography, photoacoustic imaging, and micro-endoscopy systems for biomedical applications. She is the author or coauthor of over 90 journal articles, conference papers, and book chapters.
Electronic imaging and sensing systems are used for medical diagnosis. In recent years, for example, dental offices have been switching to digital X-ray imaging systems. Another growing application area is the use of digital infrared imaging systems for home inspections which can spot invisible water damage. Of course, electronic imaging and sen
