His chapbook, We Leave the Safety of the Sea, received the Colorado Authors' League Poetry award for 2014. A collection of his poetry in High Plains Register received the Colorado Authors' League Poetry award in 2016. His latest book of poetry is A Death at Tollgate Creek (2017).
The 120 haiku in As The Crow Flies were selected from over 2,000 haiku written over six years. They express the poet's sense of wonder and awe for the beauty and variety of nature and his love for humankind. They were written in a daily exchange of haiku with Christine Valentine, a gifted poet, his mentor and friend.
