Andrea von Treuenfeld studied journalism and German literature and spent many years working as a columnist, correspondent, adn editor for such print media as Welt am Sonntag and Wirtschaftswoche. As a freelance journalist, she now write portraits and biographies.
Going Back is divided into 16 chapters, wherein each woman relates her personal story of fleeing Nazis and surviving as refugees abroad, then moving back. The book explores German antisemitism then and now. It also examines the refugee experience and Jewish identity before and after leaving. Photographs of the women appear throughout the book.
