Dale Crotts is the author of The Reckoning, the first in the Macy Merit/ Spencer Rawlings series. Dale grew up in a small community known as Glenola, located in Randolph County, North Carolina. He attended Randleman High School, and later graduated from High Point College with a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration. After working several years in banking, Dale earned his MBA from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. His passion for writing began early as he wrote plays for his drama class in middle school. A professional opportunity took Dale to Kentucky, where they lived for four years, and then moved to Michigan for one year, before returning to North Carolina. Many of the locations and characters in his writing come from his travels throughout the Midwest. When not working or writing, Dale enjoys travelling, reading and golf. He is a huge fan of the television series House, and also enjoys watching college basketball, especially the High Point University Panthers, his Alma mater. Dale currently resides in North Carolina.

Macy Merit leaves Naval Special Ops after a bizarre mission goes awry to become "The Avenger." Her first case involves the death of Jack Jordan, the Director of the Centers for Disease Control, whose wife Vanessa is a U.S. Senator from North Carolina. Ruled a suicide by the local police, Macy uncovers evidence that points to murder. While working diligently to nd the killer, Macy stumbles on a plot to develop a biological weapon to be used against civilians, not by a terrorist group, but by high-level ocials within our own government. As the clues unfold, and the body count rises, Macy discovers the connection between Jack Jordan's death and the biological experiments. Macy soon realizes that she and her former Navy team members are on opposing sides in a race against time to reveal the ones behind the experiment and stop the massacre of innocent victims. Death Watch combines political and legal issues of our time with romance, mystery, murder, and suspense to create an exciting and thought-provoking journey into the world of power and corruption.
