Tenants’ Rights SUSSED

I'll level with you. I'm a geek, a housing law geek. For some bizarre reason I find the way that people occupy their homes to be endlessly interesting. Not only the law but the trends that wax and wane in housing-world. I started off as a teenager working in a 1,200 bed direct access night shelter called the 'Camberwell Spike', an old doss house in Peckham, South East London. I then became a homelessness case worker for the London Borough of Lewisham and then a Tenancy Relations Officer for the same organisation, prosecuting landlords for harassment and illegal eviction. I became a trainer of housing law in 1998 and since that time I have trained lawyers, housing officers, housing advice workers, landlords....you name it. More latterly I have gotten into housing journalism and even been on TV talking about housing. Housing issues are all I know, housing is what I do and after a lifetime in this field I have come to believe that the vast majority of problems in the housing world boil down to one thing: LANDLORDS AND TENANTS DON'T KNOW THE FIRST THING ABOUT WHAT RENTING IS REALLY ABOUT.
