African State and Society in the 1990s

Joseph Takougang is associate professor in the Department of African- American Studies at the University of Cincinnati and Milton Krieger is a professor in the Department of Liberal Studies at Western Washington University.

Based on extensive research in Cameroon since 1989, "African State and Society in the 1990s" is the first major English-language study that covers the political crisis there of the early 1990s between the regime and opposition forces and the ensuing impasse of the mid-decade. Appearing at a time when national elections for 1997 may trigger further conflicts, the book adds a key case study to African democratization scholarship.
