Beschreibung:

Lionel Francis Baxter was an executive for the Storer Broadcasting Corporation. As a skilled announcer, programmer and executive in radio and television he was an expert at researching stories and finding the facts. On assignment in Washington, D.C., he thoroughly researched the National Archives as well as other sources for the material presented here about his beloved grandfather. His collaborator and coauthor, John Medders, was an established author and writer for the Lockheed Missiles and Space Company. They worked together for several years on this project.
This is the story of a thirteen year old boy who lied about his age in April, 1861, and joined Adams Rifles, a company of volunteers from Handsboro, Mississippi. The unit became Company E of the 20th Mississippi Infantry. The boy, Marion Francis Baxter, soon found himself in action in Western Virginia and somewhat later was taken prisoner at Fort Donelson, Kentucky. After his exchange at Vicksburg, in September of 1862, he was in constant combat as the Federals pushed the Confederates on back to Georgia. This narrative presents his unique story.
