';I'll Be Seeing You' - a well-known ballad, written in America in the thirties, became world-famous during World War Two. Lyrics by Irving Kahal and music by Sammy Fain, it inspired memories of romantic meetings in cafes and parks and summertime sunny days and moonlit nights, the song evoked tender memories for lovers through the war and, later, peacetime. Unbeknown to others around the world, so many couples thought of it as their love link - ';our song'- this series is the first tale of two of them.Wartime in England sees two young girls evacuated to Australia for safety, out of the London Blitz, to live with unfamiliar relatives - little do they know their stay will last five long years. Whilst safe, they are unhappy with an aunt and uncle in a luxurious Melbourne mansion where tensions are rife. As the girls grow into their teens, Adele's younger sister is becoming wayward and a cousin almost rapes Adele but she keeps both secret, feeling responsible for keeping the peace until they leave. The war ends and the girls finally return to England, with its peacetime rationing and austerity. Now young women, Adele and Tania find everything has undergone change including their family and daily London life. Adele meets the man of her dreams, handsome and charismatic, at a dance as they sway to the sound of the band playing ';I'll be seeing you'. It becomes ';our song'. They fall instantly in love and plan their future and wedding, despite family anxieties and the serious peacetime shortages.
