This book explores the diverse nature of Chinese workplaces and workforce experiences. Considering a wide range of issues and many different kinds of workplaces, it outlines the critical changes in Chinaa (TM)s workplaces and its workforce over the last decade, including the beginnings of a shortage of skilled labour, the emergence of service industry, including a large business services sector, and changes to the ways that unions influence the Chinese labour market. Unlike many other studies which view changes to Chinaa (TM)s businesses as the outcome of policies implemented from the top by a command economy, this book conveys the full richness of Chinaa (TM)s diverse local labour markets, the important role of private business, and the impact of management education experiences.
