Henry H. Neff wurde 1973 in Massachusetts geboren und wuchs in Chicago auf. Nach dem Studium der Geschichte arbeitete Neff als Unternehmensberater bei McKinsey. Nach fünf Jahren gab er seinen Job auf und zog nach San Francisco. Heute unterrichtet er an einer Highschool Geschichte und Kunst. Nebenher schreibt und illustriert er Bücher.
