Dr. Dilip Depan is a research scientist in the Chemical Engineering Department and has been teaching undergraduate courses at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette. He earned his PhD from the National Chemical Laboratory, Pune, India, in 2009. Dr. Depan has an extensive research background in the modification and characterization of biomaterial surface for various biomedical applications. His recent research focuses on bone-biomaterial interaction, tissue engineering 3-D scaffolds, dental materials, nanomedicine, and engineering education.
Biomaterials based on polymers perform a time-limited function, but being foreign, they should disappear from the body once that function has been fulfilled. A wide range of polymers have been considered for biomedical applications such as drug delivery, biosensors, and tissue engineering. This book highlights recent developments in biodegradabl
