Holger Benavides Muñoz finished his bachelor¿s degree in 1999, at the Universidad Técnica Particular de Loja (UTPL, Ecuador). In 2005, he obtained the IDB International Certificate in "Formulation and project management" from the National Polytechnic University (BID-UPN), and that same year he was awarded his Master's degree in "Management of projects for development" at the Escuela Superior Politécnica del Litoral (ESPOL, Ecuador). He obtained a university specialist degree in "Urban water management" in 2007 from the Universidad Politécnica de Valencia (UPV, Spain) and he obtained his doctorate in "Hydraulic engineering and environment" in 2010 from the Universidad Politécnica de Valencia (UPV, Spain). He is currently a professor of the Water Resources section of the Department of Geology, Mines and Civil Engineering at the Universidad Técnica Particular de Loja (UTPL, Ecuador).
