Mithun has an important place in the socio-cultural-religious-economic life of people of tribal nations of India namely Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland, Manipur and Mizoram. Livestock statistics indicates mithun population is undergoing non-cyclical fluctuation over a period the time due to lack of suitable breeding management in NEH region. So greater efforts are required from all the quarters to preserve and conserve the precious germplasm to enhance socio-economic status of mithun rearing regions.
