Data regarding the prevalence of skin diseases reducing the market value of skins and hides and ultimately fined leather were not available in Pakistan. The current study was conducted in the hide/skin markets and abattoirs from different districts of Pakistan. The record of various skin diseases and conditions damaging the skin of buffalo, cattle, goat and sheep was made. Lesions, extent and type of damage were recorded. At the hide/skin markets and tanneries grading of skins /hides was done as per prevailing system. Economic losses were calculated on the basis of percentages of different grades of skins/hides obtained in this project. In Pakistan there is still conventional methods of treatment for ectoparasites, where the farmers control these parasites through ethno-therapy. In this study we adopted the mix-treatment strategy. In mix treatment strategy more animals could be cured from Ectoparasitic infestation.
