He is Professor of Neurosurgery, Neurology, Surgery, and Structural & Cellular Biology, Director of Surgical Anatomy at Tulane School of Medicine and Program Director of Anatomical Research in the Clinical Neuroscience Research Center at Tulane University School of Medicine, New Orleans, Louisiana and Department of Neurosurgery and Ochsner Neuroscience Institute Ochsner Health System, New Orleans, LA. He has multiple honorary professorships/faculty positions both in the US and abroad. Dr. Tubbs is President-elect of the American Association of Clinical Anatomists (AACA) and serves as its Journal's (Clinical Anatomy) Editor-in-Chief. Dr. Tubbs' research interests are centered around what has been termed "reverse translational anatomy research” where clinical/surgical problems are identified and solved/explained with anatomical studies. This investigative paradigm in anatomy has resulted in over 1,800 peer reviewed publications from his laboratory. Dr. Tubbs' laboratory has made novel discoveries in human anatomy and in 2018, he was listed as a "hyperprolific author” in the journal Nature. Dr. Tubbs sits on the editorial board of over 10 anatomical journals and over 30 clinical journals and has reviewed for over 150 various scientific journals. He has authored/edited over 50 books and over 80 book chapters primarily in anatomical and neurosurgical textbooks. Lastly, Dr. Tubbs is Chair of the Federative International Programme on Anatomical Terminologies (FIPAT) and oversees six working groups dedicated to this topic. Under his leadership, the second edition of Terminologia Anatomica was just published.Dr. Rizk is a neurosurgeon at the Penn State Hershey Medical Center with a clinical specialty in pediatric peripheral nerve surgery. He has multiple publications on the PNS and is active in basic science research regarding peripheral nerve regeneration.Physician and anatomist for the Department of Ophthalmology at the Indiana University School of Medicine who has written extensively in the field of anatomy and on the peripheral nerves.Dr. Marios Loukas was appointed Chairman of the Department of Anatomical Sciences at St. Georges University Medical School in 2008. He is responsible for managing the anatomy department, developing curriculum, supervising research and inspiring scholarly activities. Under his guidance, the department publishes approximately 70 to 80 academic papers a year. In addition, Dr. Loukas is the University's Dean of Research and Assistant Dean of Basic and Allied Health Sciences. Prior to joining SGU, Dr. Loukas taught anatomy, histology, and radiology at Harvard Medical School's Department of Education and Development for seven years. He also taught anatomy at the American University of the Caribbean and was Course Director and Chairman of the Department of Anatomy for one year. Dr. Loukas served on the Student Evaluation and Promotion, and Faculty Evaluation Committees and was Chair of the Information Technology Committee at the American University of the Caribbean. Dr. Loukas has won several awards for research and teaching and has published over 300 works in a variety of publications including Gray's Anatomy Review, Gray's Photographic Dissector, and Netter's Introduction to Clinical Procedures.Dr. Robert Spinner is a neurosurgeon in Rochester, Minnesota. He is affiliated with multiple hospitals in the area, including Mayo Clinic and Mayo Clinic - Saint Marys Hospital. He received his medical degree from Mayo Medical School and has been in practice for 25 years. He is one of 17 doctors at Mayo Clinic and one of 13 at Mayo Clinic - Saint Marys Hospital who specialize in Neurological Surgery.

Nerves and Nerve Injuries is a must-have for clinicians and researchers dealing with the Peripheral Nervous System and neuropathy. An indispensable work for anyone studying the nerves or treating patients with nerve injuries, these books will become the 'go to' resource in the field. The nerves are treated in a systematic manner, discussing details such as their anatomy (both macro- and microscopic), physiology, examination (physical and imaging), pathology, and clinical and surgical interventions. The authors contributing their expertise are international experts on the subject. The books cover topics from detailed nerve anatomy and embryology to cutting-edge knowledge related to treatment, disease and mathematical modeling of the nerves.

Nerves and Nerve Injuries Volume 2 focuses on pain, treatment, injury, disease and future directions in the field. This volume also addresses new information regarding neural interfaces, stem cells, medical and surgical treatments, and medical legal issues following nerve injury.

  • Most up-to-date comprehensive overview available on nerves and nerve injuries
  • Comprehensive coverage of nerve injuries on bones, joints, muscles, and motor function; and offers an approach to the treatment of nerve injuries
  • Edited work with chapters authored by leaders in the field around the globe - the broadest, most expert coverage available
  • Covers surgical exposure of the nerves including technical aspects of nerve repair and medicinal treatment of nerve injuries
  • Discusses the future of our understanding of the nerves including axonal modeling, synthetic interfaces and brain changes following nerve injury

Section 1. Pain Involving the Peripheral Nerves

Section 2. Surgical Exposure of the Peripheral Nerves

Section 3. Technical Considerations

Section 4. Injuries of the Peripheral Nerves

Section 5. Non-Surgical Treatment of Nerve Injuries
